Drawing Buildings using Line and Shade

We are discovering the elements of art and exploring how to sketch buildings. We went outside and looked at the lines, shapes and shades of each part of the buildings. Next we sat and tried to sketch the buildings.
We are very proud of our sketches.
  The following week we studied some famous landmarks from around Melbourne and we had a go at drawing them with pastel. The black background not only makes the  vibrant colours stand out but it also highlights the shade and lines that we used.

Toy Town

Today in Math we were doing model making.
First we had to copy some simple models from the illustrations.
Next we created the tallest tower that we could and then we tried to sketch it.
Finally we worked in pairs to create a building in a town. We designed a Toy Town. It had streets and traffic lights. We put it all together and used toy cars to play in toy town. The Math we did was:
* Space
* Shapes
* Counting
* Patterns
* Design
* Mapping
It was one of the best Math lessons ever.
